Cooper's Birthday

Who knew that I when I went to bed on Sunday, August 30th 2009, I would meet Cooper the very next day.  My water broke that night around 11 pm and when I finally calmed Byron down, we headed to UCLA for an event-filled night and morning.

I had my epidural placed at 3 am, and by 9 am I was ready to start pushing.  Unfortunately, after 3 hours of pushing/having my epidural turned off so I could "feel" the contractions/pitocin started, Cooper still hadn't made his way into the birth canal and started to have difficulties tolerating labor.  It was decided at that point to go to c-section.

At 1:02 pm (California time) August 31st our little man was here, and most importantly, healthy...

Introducing Cooper Malachi Waldrip
6 lbs 0 ounces, 20 inches long

The first time I saw him...

Still adoring our Cooper Chi in the recovery room.  I couldn't have done it without my cup of ice chips!!!

Cooper with his giant pacifier...

Daddy's first kiss.

Mimi hurried out to LA as soon as she heard the news.  She was there within an hour of Cooper's birth.

Austin and Scott always available for a good laugh :)

Baby Showers Aren't Just for Girls...

We decided to have a little party to celebrate Cooper's soon-to-be arrival (how soon we would SOON find out) at the poolside cabanas at the Shangri-La Hotel in Santa Monica on August 30th with some of our LA friends.  Thanks Scottie for arranging the location!

Pretty much the only real picture that Byron and I took together during my pregnancy...just in time!

Lauren and Sarah rubbing my poor swollen feet...

Chris, Byron, Scottie, and Nasty enjoying some Coronas and pool time.

Poor Rhodes didn't know what to think about the pool...

Baby Shower at Villa Blanca

My residency friends hosted a baby shower brunch at a cute little restaurant in Beverly Hills called Villa Blanca...I totally knew that Kavi picked it out when I saw it...

Me pre-shower...36 week belly bump :)

Some of my favorite residency girls...

The infamous shower quiz.  How many can you get right?

Rashmi surprised us with news of her own...twin boys in January!!!

Mary Ellen gave me much to think about...pumping advice, clothes after pregnancy advice, and most importantly...the recommendation to invest in some post-partum granny panties!!!  Thanks M.E. :)

Nims is only one month behind me...expecting a sweet little girl!

Rups got me all the supplies and the know-how to make my own baby food...she says it's not that hard...we'll see!!!

My little turtle...(residency joke :)

Kavi and baby Lia...one of Cooper's future girlfriends...

Cooper's Nursery

So it is almost complete...just a few more things here and there and we will officially be ready for the arrival of baby Cooper Chi!

I might have gone a bit overboard with the personalization of his bedding...

I'm sure there will be MANY nights spent sleeping on this couch...luckily it's pretty comfy :)

Waiting for a picture of little Cooper to replace the lion...can only prepare so much!
